I am a keen average golfer who loves the game for the frustration of chasing a little white ball around the countryside. I have played since I was 16 and whilst only playing 6 or 7 rounds a year had low expectations.
I really caught the bug 5 years ago and now play 125 rounds a year! I see a lot of courses and over the course of a month encounter some pretty strange and interesting things.
I belong to a number of golf societies during the week and play with a group of guys Saturday and Sunday. I enter all the competitions at my home club, London Club in Kent. A tough track with two championship Jack Nicklaus courses.
I have a handicap of 19.6 but play like a 15 handicapper but try as hard as I might the sucker won’t come down. I have my name on the board for three competition wins at London Club for which I am incredibly proud. I played 4 rounds in 4 countries last year raising money for Sparks. This year I am attempting 230 holes in 12 hours to capture the Guinness World Record for most golf holes in 12 hours!
My office attire is purple suits and bow ties so looking sharp on the course is vital. So my bright golf gear from Royal & Awesome fits the bill – as they say for pars & bars!
Above: Wearing my firework inspired Ka-Boom Golf Trousers & matching flat cap.
It is great seeing the reaction from different clubs, members and players. In the end though it brightens the day and if the sun doesn’t shine then your outfit will. If your play isn’t great, who cares you’ll be centre of attention at the 19th.
I will be keeping you up to date over the golf season with how my golf progresses, the ups and the downs (hopefully more ups than downs!), as well as some of the stories & tales I encounter along the way. I hope you guys enjoy.
